Kværkeby Bird Reserve

Kværkeby Bird Reserve has existed since 1970, when it was established by Gunnar Goddik on an abandoned gravel pit surrounded by peat bogs.

Kværkeby Bird Sancturary was established in 1970. The Sanctuary covers 9 hectares or 92,044 square meters. Until August 2010 it was private property and has now been taken over by an association.

The Sanctuary covers meadow and moor land and a gravel pit. 3,000 trees and bushes to give shelter for the wind have been planted. The area of water covers 6 hectares.

The list of species is now 151 different birds, of which 64 have breaded. Furthermore, 25 different species of mammals, 7 different amphibians, 3 species of reptiles and 14 different fish have been registered. In all 200 species which is quite amasing considering the size of the Sanctuary.
